Derek

Derek has an extensive background working with children both as a teacher and as a coach. After attaining a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University (and a Bachelor’s Degree in History), Derek went on to teach both 1st and 2nd grade.

He is also a teacher for Travelin’ Tumblers, a preschool fitness and tumbling company. He was the employee of the year for 2007-2008, as well as 2009-2010.

Derek also has coached and worked with several youth lacrosse camps and teams during his collegiate lacrosse career. Derek has also had success in Jiu-Jitsu competition. He has 1st place wins in Grapplers Quest and the Rockland County BJJ tournament, in both Gi and No-Gi. Derek also has several second place finishes in Grapplers Quest and at the Pride Cup in Ecuador.

He was also the top of the class trophy winner for Ring of Honor. Derek looks forward to combining his two passions, teaching children and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
